Ubisoft have began to deactivate fraudulent copies of Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Unity, purchased from illegitimate websites.

Some PC reseller sites, such as G2A have been under fire from a number of developers for selling “not legitimate” Steam copies of games. It seems that Ubisoft have joined the number of developers to start actively cancelling keys of games.

It emerged that Ubisoft had been cancelling “Far Cry 4” and “Assassin’s Creed Unity” copies purchased from resellers, after determining that they were acquired and sold online for a cheaper price. This emerged when Steam users began complaining their keys were deactivated on the Ubisoft forums, and Ubisoft then told Eurogamer that “We regularly deactivate keys that were fraudulently obtained and resold.”

Devolver Digital also announced that they were actively cancelling Steam keys acquired by resellers in 2014, and it seems Ubisoft have now joined the list of developers to do so.
