As you would guess, the Devolver Direct is filled with nonsense ranging from interviews with tendril monstrosities and other obscene instances that can be found throughout the presentation. But of course, the publisher also presented some games that were anticipated to be shown such as Carrion – which is coming later this month – or Shadow Warrior 3.
However, in the midst of the presentation, Devolver Digital also pressed on the matters of a new collaborative project with newly founded studio, Beans. The team itself is currently comprised of former Ubisoft developers Gabriela Salvatore and Deans Evans. Based in Toronto, the team shares to be hiring for more hands at its new and tasteful website.
A lot of people have been complaining about the AAA business and the lack of risk-taking, that I’d be a total fucking hypocrite if I moved forward and didn’t take any risks. So fuck it, I think I might go out and set up my own studio and see where that goes.
Dean Evans, Beans Co-Founder
Prior to the founding of Beans, Salvatore worked at Ubisoft before her departure in 2016. Among her experience at the studio, she is most noted for her work on Far Cry Primal and later with Far Cry 5. Evans is also involved with his time at Ubisoft in the Far Cry series as he was posed as a Creative Director for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon before his leave later on in 2018.
The two did not disclose what exactly this new project will be, but seeing their repertoire from their time at Ubisoft, it surely be a title worth keeping an eye out later on. Evans ending the segment during the presentation told that the game will be shown off sometime next year in 2021.
For a recap on most of the prolific showcased titles present at today’s Devolver Direct, you can experience them in Devolverland Expo. The experience is a first-person game set in an abandoned convention center after the show was cancelled. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
What are you excited to see from Beans in the coming future?
