Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun For PlayStation Plus May 2025 Free Games

There has been plenty good coming to PlayStation Plus over the past month. For April 2025, the free games offered included the likes of RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. There was also the Game Catalog that welcomed Hogwarts Legacy, Battlefield 1, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 2 plus more as well.

However, other changes for the service can overshadow what is included in the subscription. As reported previously, Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed the service is to do away with PlayStation 4 titles later in early 2026. Additionally, Canadians are also facing a price hike which was revealed to go live this month also.

But there is still more to be excited for later down the line too. Sony Interactive Entertainment this week revealed the new roster for its May 2025 free titles. Included in the new listing is Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Both Balatro & Warhammer 40,000 are to offer PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 versions; Ark only features PlayStation 5.

Related to the featured IPs, Ark Survival has been a growing IP for the past decade. The series just this past winter was welcomed to mobile devices officially. As part of the new addition to smartphones, Wildcard Studios revealed that Ark: Ultimate Mobile generated more than a million downloads on Android & iOS within its first 24 hours of being live.

Elsewhere, Balatro is one of the most prominent new IPs to ship from an indie studio. During The Game Awards season, developer Localthunk was recognized for the response to its title and was among those nominated for Game of the Year in December. You can read the full report by heading here.
