For those that owned any of the PlayStation consoles since its inception back roughly two decades ago now, you most likely came across a Persona game in your past. If not, Shin Migami Tensei is another candidate. The two Atlus-developed series are extremely popular amongst PlayStation players and only now on Switch and PC are other audiences experiencing the franchises.
However, Atlus in the past has campaigned for more of its entries to come to new platforms. Namely Nintendo Switch for the past year or two now, the firm in a previous yearly survey asked if fans are interested in other games from the developer to come to Nintendo’s latest handheld hybrid console. And it has proven to be so with games like Catherine: Full Body, Persona 5 Strikers, and Shin Migami Tensei III Nocturne Remastered HD are the result of that.
Even publisher Sega pressed on the matter of its games coming to new platforms. Originally presumed for Nintendo Switch, there is still room to speculate for Xbox versions as well. In the annual survey held by Atlus earlier in March, the developer asked if fans are interested in seeing the series come to Microsoft’s console now.
Q55: If the following “Persona” series titles were released, would you think “I want to play this”? If that’s what you would think, please answer for which devices.

I want to play this on a smartphone (buy to play)
I want to play this on a smartphone (free-to-play with microtransactions)

Other

Noted, Atlus is routine with polling its audience in understanding what the user base is interested to see. But, what makes the discovery most unique is that the firm not once mentioned Xbox until the latest survey earlier in the year. To reiterate again, many originally took the jump to be aimed solely for Nintendo Switch for the most part. But, Xbox 360 did have Persona 4 Arena – so it is possible for a new entry.
The game’s Atlus references for the possible platforms reads the following: A new rhythm action game in the “Persona” series; “Persona” series card game; “Persona” series online RPG; New “Persona” series action RPG; “Persona” series Text-Adventure; “Persona” series board game; “Persona” series strategy game; “Persona 5” fighting game; Completely new “Persona 6”.
Looking ahead to what the future of Persona has to offer is to be an exciting time for 2021. In that, Persona Producer Kazuhisa Wada goes on to indicate that there will be “exciting plans” for the franchise’s 25th anniversary this year. You can read the full report by heading here.
