Continuing its journey at PlayStation Studios, Bungie has remained to do new things. In May, the developer announced it is forming a new studio, teamLFG. From the press release, the game studio shares its new project takes notes from MOBAs & “frog-type games”. This comes after the surprising number of layoffs that hit the team back in 2024.
Bungie also remains preoccupied with Destiny 2. Shipping its last major expansion ‘Into The Light’ last summer, the developer has also collaborated with other teams on expansion Destiny 2. In a short window, we saw the franchise expand to other universes in crossovers like Sea of Thieves as well as Brawlhalla most recently.
Now Bungie earlier in May revealed the confirmed roadmap for Destiny 2 which holds new content leading up to this July. Come the summer, the newest expansion ‘The Edge of Fate’ is to release. The developer also revealed new Star Wars events that will be taking place where both series will collide in-game. There is also a new ‘Rite of the Nine’ event that is currently live as too in Destiny 2.
“The expansion will take place on Kepler, a new destination inspired by the puzzle-solving and pathfinding challenges of Destiny 2’s dungeons and destination design which encourages deep exploration, mystery, and player-driven discovery. New enemies, weapons, gear, and destination-specific abilities await those brave enough to dive into its secrets. […] The Edge of Fate will propel Guardians into a multiyear saga that will unfold across multiple expansions.”
Bungie continues on the Star Wars plans: “With each of our Fate Saga Expansions, we’re looking to break from our past formulas and deliver something truly unique, and Renegades is no exception,” Justin Truman, Destiny vice president says. “It’s a Destiny story at heart, but with a Star Wars-inspired take that’s been a dream for us to explore.” The Edge of Fate releases on July 15th; Renegades ships on December 2nd.
