The formula of Telltale Games titles has been missed, but there is a resurgence in the medium. Although the firm already released its The Expanse series previously, there are more IPs still on the way. What feels like a long-awaited promise, Telltale Games is still working on The Wolf Among Us 2. The latest update on the game came back in fall 2024 where it confirmed the title is still in the pipeline.
As for other projects to fill that void, a successor from 2K shipped back in 2022. Following the same structure & universe as the original, New Tales From The Borderlands arrived further delving into the universe with an expansive cast and tie-ins to the Gearbox franchise. More recently, fans have been raving about the new superhero storybook that is Dispatch with its star-studded cast.
Just this patch week, developer AdHoc Studio on Bluesky revealed that Dispatch has sold over one million copies within the first two weeks. This is a proven sign that there is a demand for this format and gives hope more will follow in this new series.
And with the final episodes now live, Robert Roberson star Aaron Paul spoke with Charlie White Jr. on Dispatch revealing to the Solar voice actor that he is hoping more seasons are to follow the newly founded success in Dispatch. “I hope that you and I get to do multiple- seasons of this game. You know, it- I just love talking about people that you want to cheer for.
“The team behind Dispatch are just all so great, so passionate about that they do. You know, the- love and the care they put into these stores is truly blinding and it’s what really resonated with me when I first got the scripts that were sent my way. […] I hope we get to do more.” Paul also expressed how impressed he is with the handling of the story to bring conversations similar to how Breaking Bad gave the same effect when it was airing.
