While publisher Electronic Arts is recognized for its funded releases and franchises like Battlefield, Madden NFL, and Need for Speed, the firm is earning its reputation for outstanding releases from smaller, independent studios as well. Through its EA Originals initiative, the team is working with indie developers to craft future classics to leave a lasting impression on the industry.
Most recently with the release of It Takes Two, the game proved to be a success with its creative approach with cooperative gameplay and more creative storytelling with a plot that is fairly dark when told in the realm of reality. Now racking in over one million in sold copies, Hazelight studio director Josef Fares incites the demand for co-op titles are still rampant in the market.
For what could be another success story is Velan Studios’ Knockout City. With similar vibes you might find from Gunho Online Entertainment’s Ninjala, the premise follows the structure of dodgeball as players use different abilities to come out victorious. In a new announcement on Monday, Microsoft reveals the game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play.
There’s just one month to go before Knockout City slams onto the gaming scene. And judging by the one million downloads during the recent cross play beta, this dodgebrawling game is sure to make an impact. The best part? It will be available to play at launch on May 21 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play members!

Hardly a month following the game’s launch did Electronic Arts ship the game for EA Play {then EA Access).
Noted, it is unsure if the addition to the EA Play List will also be applied to Xbox Game Pass owners on PC as well. Earlier this month, Electronic Arts & Microsoft greenlit the EA Play perk for Xbox Game Pass on PC. You can read the full report by heading here.
