The Rogue Trooper series stands as an easily identifiable series thanks to the comics blue-skinned protagonist. Even more, the series went one step further with a video game release later on which released in 2006. To relive the nostalgia, Rebellion announced a Redux for the series a decade later which went on to release in 2017.
Additionally, Rebellion with its hands on the IP is also moving forward with a film adaptation for the iconic series as well. In 2018, it was teased that director Duncan Jones (Warcraft, Source Code) is to helm the chair for the new film. Since the teaser back in 2018, there has been a narrow stream of new information on the Rogue Trooper movie with only just recently revealing new details.
Upon a new report from Empire, the first official look is finally being revealed for Rogue Trooper. But unlike most film adaptations, Rogue Trooper is not live-action as many would have predicted. Instead, Rebellion & Liberty Films are producing the picture completely in Unreal Engine 5. You can view the images in the slides below:
The Rogue Trooper movie stars Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk, Peaky Blinders), Jemaine Clement (Men in Black 3, Moana), Matt Berry (Fallout, Minecraft), Hayley Atwell (Black Mirror, Avengers Endgame), Jack Lowden (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Snowpiercer), Daryl McCormack (Twisters), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen), Diane Morgan (Mandy), Alice Lowe (Hotfuzz), and Asa Butterfield (Sex Education).
Set in 2000 A.D., Rogue Trooper takes place on Nu Earth and follows the leading Genetic Infantryman as part of a civil war between the feuding Norts & Southers. The synopsis tells “[Barnard] finds himself the sole survivor of an invasion force” as part of a revenge story as the GI is outed as a traitor.
How excited are you for Rogue Trooper?
