Every Friday, 343 releases a weekly blog about the recent news and future changes to the their most recent title. As many of you know, Firefight is a popular mode within the Halo community where you team up with your friends, and battle against horde of enemies. 343 clarified before Halo 5 launch if there was enough demand for it, they would make it. The screenshot above shows a modified version of Escape from Arc for Firefight along with some new skins and an HCS Armor.

“You may recall that prior to launch, we let you know that if there was enough of a demand for a PvE Warzone game mode, that the dev team here would begin some serious investigation into the development of the mode. Unsurprisingly, there was some serious demand, so we started building Warzone Firefight. The mode will let you team up with fellow Spartans to fight against common foes – all while showing off your custom armor and colors (as a reminder, there are now 2000 more Armor color combinations as of the Hammer Storm update). They’re not allowing me to share more just yet, but I was able to sneak a new exclusive screenshot out of the playtest lab:”

Updated Ranking Distribution and more:
Brian Richards, software engineer at 343 gave us a look at behind the scenes of Halo 5’s CSR.

One of the goals of our Competitive Skill Rank (CSR) system is that it reflects the skill range of the active population. At Halo 5 launch, we tuned the designation system based on an ideal skill distribution. Since launch, you all have been putting in the hours and getting better. Starting with the March season, part of our process for season rollovers was to update the CSR curves in each playlist to reflect the actual skill of the population playing in them. With the new skill curves, you may see a difference after your placement matches in some of the playlists this season. Separately, it is worth noting that we’re actively investigating CSR feedback we’ve gotten from players at top skill levels to determine improvements that can be made to the system.
