It’s been known that The Pokémon Company has planned to bring back the classic 1999 Pokémon film to Japan at some point in the near future for quite a while now, but just last week the first trailer for the landed revealing that the film will be a CGI recreation of Pokémon: The First Movie.

For fans who have watched the film will understand the essence of what’s happening despite the language barrier for non-Japanese speakers who watch the trailer. The new movie given the name Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, and is labeled with a release date for July 12th for Japan.

Currently there isn’t any word on when the Pokémon flick will drop for the West, but it is best assumed fans will be able to enjoy the film circulating around the same time Pokémon Sword & Shield drop later this year.

For how the film is being received from fans is lesser than Nintendo’s expectations as the trailer on YouTube currently has both likes and comments disabled. In my opinion, the film looks to be more pleasing than the upcoming live-action Pokémon film Detective Pikachu. Only problem I have is looking at Ash and his group of friends.

How do you feel about the film being adapted with CGI?
