Rewinding back to the beginning of February last month, it was reported that Japanese game studio PlatinumGames created a kickstarter which entailed that the team might be working on creating a crowdfunding campaign for a port of The Wonderful 101. Evidently, that ended up being the case, except the “port” happened to be a remaster with an upgraded appearance and additional content that was not in the original game.
The project quickly picked up momentum as the initial goal set for the campaign of $50,544 was already met within the hour of its commencement. But backing did not seem to let up as the counter continued to tick where more benchmarks were passed including versions for PC and PlayStation 4 were announced for support.
Now less than a day before the Kickstarter campaign meets its conclusion, The Wonderful 101: Remastered has exceeded over $2 million in donations. PlatinumGames breaks the news on Twitter with an image of the Kickstarter page.
Atop of the three platforms that the remaster of the 2013 title will be launching on through supportive backers, more goals were reached which included Time Attack, Luka’s First Mission, and a Remixed Soundtrack for the game. Regarding the campaign now arriving to two million dollars, Luka’s Second Mission is expected to be available to all those who backed the project.
The stretch goal list since achieving this new milestone has again been updated, listing a goal at $2.25 million for a Orchestral Recoding of “The Won-Stoppable Wonderful 100” & “Tables Turn” re-recorded upon a full orchestra and $2.5 million for more languages to be supported for the game.
Recently, PlatinumGames disclosed the scheduled release dates for North America, Europe, and Japan. Interesting enough, Japan will be the last to receive the remaster in mid June: you can read the full report by heading here.
