Koei Tecmo Releases Warriors: Abyss Today For Xbox Series X|S/PlayStation 5/Nintendo Switch/PC

The ongoing effort from Koei Tecmo to further sink its roots into the AAA/console market has become apparent. Since the release of Rise of the Ronin, the publisher shared a new initiative to chase after this ambition. More recently, it was confirmed that a new dedicated studio has been formed internally to manifest the push for more.

Part of its release plans includes a PC version of the 2024 title. However, players were also welcomed with Dynasty Warriors: Origins which release in January as well. Not to mention both Ninja Gaiden 2 Black & Ninja Gaiden 4 at the past Xbox Developer_Direct – fans of Koei Tecmo are certain to be entertained for the next year at least.

At the PlayStation State of Play, Koei Tecmo provided a shadow drop release for Warriors: Abyss. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

“Warriors: Abyss introduces a new way to play a Warriors title by combining the exhilarating feeling of 1 vs. 1,000 action with roguelite elements, such as randomly generated stages and items and enhancing player strength through choices, allowing for a different experience with each playthrough and encouraging countless hours of replayability and fun. Prepare for electrifying action as you blast away hordes of enemies with spectacular effects, all while navigating stages and executing various strategies. This is the essence of Warriors: Abyss!”

Producer Kotaro Hirata continues: “At the core of the game’s replayability is the inclusion of over 100 unique characters. In Warriors: Abyss, you not only control your chosen hero, but also recruit characters you encounter along the way. After adding a character to your team, you can then utilize the Summoning Heroes action to call upon these allies. You’ll then be able to activate Unique Tactics that significantly enhance your entire team.

“Each Summoning Heroes action and Unique Tactics has its own distinct characteristics, allowing for countless strategies based on your combinations and chosen actions. Including the character you’re controlling, you can have up to seven active heroes in battle! With the ability to choose seven characters from a pool of 100, the potential battle style combinations exceed an astonishing 16 billion! Try out various combinations and create your very own ultimate party! Additionally, we plan to regularly release new characters for free after the game’s launch. The first batch will be characters from the Jin kingdom of the Dynasty Warriors series! From the second batch onwards, there might even be characters outside of the Warriors series joining the battle!”
