The past few installments in the Call of Duty series have debuted with a multiplayer beta for anticipated fans to test the waters prior to the game’s settled launch later in the year. With this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta concluding just this Monday, publisher Activision discovered that this year’s playtest has exceeded previous metric for any other beta in the history of the franchise.

Between three different platform during two consecutive weeks, Activision announced that the entirety of both multiplayer testing sessions has rung in “million of gamers;” no specific amount was disclosed in the press release. Atop of the enabled cross-platform play functionality during the second week of the beta, the feature along with the vary game modes to play was expected to be what attracted players to download the client.

“We’re focused on delivering the best online experience possible and that includes bringing the community together with crossplay,” Infinity Ward Creative Director Patrick Kelly shares in the release.

In the midst of the second week’s beta, Infinity Ward suddenly dropped 34v32 player Ground War just hours before the gates open to the public to test Modern Warfare. In review of the impressive number of downloads and player activity, Infinity Ward shares to increase the player count to 100 when the game officially launches next month.

This week, Activision also introduced the first glimpse of story-related content for this year’s Call of Duty installment with overview trailer to imbed some concept of what the full product will be later on.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to launch on October 25, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
