Back in 2023, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty arrived and Rectify Gaming left with a 8.5/10 review for the game then. “Team Ninja took elements inspired by Dark Souls and its legendary series Ninja Gaiden. It had a robust loot system and a superb blend of fantasy and history. Wo Long opts for a more streamlined vision of Nioh while embracing the world of Three Kingdoms.”
Later on in 2024, our review for the ‘Complete Edition’ was left underwhelmed by the base release. “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition embarks on an ambitious yet flawed Souls-Like journey. While the engaging combat system, captivating RPG elements, and impressive aesthetics shine through, they are hindered by a lack of difficulty balance, a rushed narrative conclusion, and notable technical issues.”
But at the XBOX Games Showcase this weekend, excitement swelled with the announcement of a sequel, Wo Long: Wings of Ember. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

XBOX Wire offers an additional synopsis: “Set in the aftermath of the first game amid a fantasy take on the late Eastern Han period of Chinese history, you’ll play a nameless champion fighting against humans and demons alike across vast battlefields. The new game features an evolved Chinese martial arts style integrating both offensive and defensive combat.”
