LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight accidentally released early on Xbox

On Sunday, an Xbox player discovered that their pre-order for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight ended up being playable. Reddit user Dramatic-Track-9935 revealed they had received a notification that the game was “ready to start.”

On the Reddit thread, they also shared a video and images of them being able to play the game. At the time, on Sunday evening, it was discovered that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight pre-ordered from Walmart, was allowing you to do this. The retailer’s digital code was allowing players to access it early.

Clearly, this was not supposed to happen. It looks like the early Walmart code for the game has been patched via an update by Xbox. It’s recommended that anyone who downloaded the game may want to take the Xbox offline.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight releases May 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The Switch 2 version is coming at a later date.

The new LEGO Batman title looks to be the biggest game in the series, featuring a huge open world and many references to previous movies.
