It came as a surprise when Nintendo revealed the first licensed mobile game that will be breaking the company’s exclusive boundaries into the Google Play and App Store, however, despite the popularity of the company’s properties has yet to reach exceeding numbers as pushed from their own hardware. 2016’s Super Mario Run being the second to debut from Nintendo only reached a humble 7 million downloads in its first 24 hours.

Although the recorded number of downloads is an impressive figure compared to other titles like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and this Summer’s Dr. Mario World, this was toppled compared to the new length of mobile installs for this week’s released Mario Kart World. According to Sensor Tower, the latest mobile project from Nintendo accumulated roughly 20 million downloads in the first day of launch.

Measuring this metric from only the Apple’s mobile storefront is an extraordinary feat for Nintendo as this peaks July’s mobile release by roughly 31 times the amount of downloads. Not including the number of downloads from Android will easily add another 10 million as derived from the game’s page on Google Play reading “10,000,000+.”

The title’s debut on the App Store also rung in a gross of $1 million, placing the Mario Kart tour as the third best mobile release for Nintendo: ranked behind Fire Emblem Heroes and Super Mario Run. The coinciding launch of the game’s Gold Pass subscription also kicked off with a noteworthy debut as it is currently the most popular in-app purchase for the title. However, the service does offer first-time users a free two-week trial of the pass, so these metrics might differentiate when players reach the 14 day mark of the trial.

Mario Kart Tour is out now for Android and iOS.
