Microsoft has announced that they have partnered with the popular game chat and community service Discord to connect Xbox and PC players even further. Starting soon, you will have the option to link your Discord account to your Xbox Live account, with Xbox Insiders getting access even sooner to test the feature. Alternatively, you will also have the option to link your Xbox account via the Discord app on PC. This will allow users on your Discord servers to see what you are currently playing on Xbox and decide if they want to get on and join you.
As of right now it won’t offer any voice chat capabilities on Xbox, but if this partnership works out between the two, it is a definite possibility in the future. In the past, Discord has also shown interest in partnering with Nintendo to offer a voice chat solution for the Switch. With the popularity of the service continuing to grow, it would be great if it was available on Xbox, Playstation, PC and Switch to connect gamers no matter where or how they play.
