So more details have been getting out lately about Lionhead Studios and their recent shut down. Kotaku UKĀ heard from multipleĀ sources that there were potential buyers for the company. They didn’t specify the big potential buyers but they were some of the biggest names in video game publishing. Another source closer to Xbox claimed that Microsoft wouldn’t sell the Fable IP along with the studio. The offers were in the range of hundreds of millions.
If any of the companies were to buy the companies they would have to make new Fable games under a licensing agreement with Microsoft. If Microsoft would have let go of the IP we may not be talking about this but they want to keep it secure in case anything pops up which could get interesting.
