Although discouraging to learn that the next Batman Arkham title would be only available through virtual reality, Meta & Camouflaj has remained committed in delivering an authentic experience to its users when releasing this past October. In a follow-up, Camouflaj did say that preserving this level of standard for Arkham Shadow would mean being exclusive to the Meta Quest 3 headset too.
In our review for Batman Arkham Shadow, Rectify Gaming scored the title a 10/10. “Batman: Arkham Shadow is a must-have for Dark Knight fans, virtual reality enthusiasts, and anyone else interested in what VR can actually offer. Arkham Shadow redefines virtual reality for the Meta Quest, much like Half-Life: Alyx did for the PC. It’s an amazing story, a technical marvel, and an exciting experience. Regardless of your level of experience with virtual reality, Batman: Arkham Shadow is an essential game that will no doubt help to sell more VR headsets.”
This week, Camouflaj returns with a new update for Batman Arkham Shadow. The new v1.4 ‘Game of the Year’ Update includes new classic Arkham challenge maps, permadeath ‘I Am The Knight’ Mode, and extreme difficulty mode. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:
“Batman Game of The Year Update includes some long awaited features and some that you may not expect. Dive into all the different elements that will truly test your skills,” the patch notes reads. “Three New Arkham-Inspired Predator Maps: Quiet Reflection (Inspired by “Quiet Waters” from Arkham Origins), Architect of Fear (Inspired by “Natural Selection” from Arkham City), Stalking TYGER (Inspired by “Silent Knight” from Arkham Asylum).
“Extreme Difficulty – A new campaign difficulty that puts your skills to the ultimate test, plus we’ve added new Extreme versions to existing Challenge Maps. Crane’s Nightmare – A new Infinite Combat challenge inspired by ‘Scarecrow Nightmare’ from Arkham Asylum. How long can you survive without taking a hit? I Am the Knight Mode – A variant on New Game+, on Extreme difficulty, that restarts your campaign upon Game Over. Completing the game on “I Am the Knight” unlocks a gold-accented variant of your Batsuit and gadgets!”
