Things look to have taken a turn for the worse according to a new report regarding the newest addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Roster. The latest issue of the Famitsu Weekly publication leaked ahead of its reveal disclosing segments of a new interview with Mashahiro Sakurai, the creator for Super Smash Bros., sharing that the team head intended to discuss development with publishers for the character’s addition, but was cancelled prior to the meeting.
This decision was told to be a following result from the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) and postponed the meeting to a later, undetermined date. As of now, development for Fighter Pass Vol. 2 looks to be enroute for the scheduled release, but if an employee working on the development tests positive for the virus will shelf work to a later date.

In addition to the potential unfortunate news for Ultimate, the user who translated the report tells that there might be more affected by this delay of development. Sharing that due to the lack of plural pronunciation in Japanese vocabulary, Sakurai could be implying that all characters reserved for the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 will also be postponed as a result from this decision. While it is hard to determine, it is assumed only the first of six new fighters have been postponed for the time being.
Suiting to upsetting news that occurred previously, it was revealed in a separate leaked Famitsu interview that the upcoming six additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be last to be developed for the game. You can head here to read the full report.
Would you be able to wait it out a bit longer for the next added character to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
