Nintendo Reveals Acquisition For Legacy IP Developer SRD

Retroactively, Nintendo is not associated for major industry-shaking acquisitions unlike the recent events of its competitors. However, the firm did make one purchase over the past two years nearly which went on to deliver more titles to its platform. The firm previously announced its acquisition for Next Level Games: the team is most associated for its efforts on Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Wii title Super Mario Strikers.

Since the initial acquisition of the game studio, there have been two projects that followed the arrangement. In 2021 it was the release of Mario Golf: Super Rush which launched at the start of the summer. Additionally this most recent Nintendo Direct it was revealed that Mario Strikers is to return with a new release for Nintendo Switch later this year – Super Mario Strikers: Battle League.

On Thursday, Nintendo announced it will be acquiring another associated developer. In that, SRD co is the next firm to be welcomed to Nintendo’s first-party talent network as the company is officially purchasing 100 percent of the team’s shares.

According to the documentation, the acquisition plans are said to be concluded by the first of April more than a month away. In terms of the long-term impact of the new arrangement for SRD co, it is told that “the acquisition will only have a minor effect on Nintendo’s results.” Most notably, alike Next Gen Games, SRD co has worked on Nintendo IPs for nearly half a century and only leaves the question why Nintendo didn’t make this purchase sooner.

Most recently, Nintendo revealed its latest financial report which came with a new milestone for the Nintendo Switch. Nearly five years into its lifecycle, the hybrid console handheld has officially outsold the Nintendo Wii with its new aim to outsell the PlayStation 4 next.
