PlayStation 5 shipments reached over 80 million

Sony announced that PlayStation 5 sales have officially reached 80.3 million units worldwide. The announcement came from the company’s financial results ending June 30, 2025. It was also revealed that 2.5 million units were shipped during the latest three month period.

In the latest quarter, PlayStation 5 sales were up 0.1 million from the same period of last fiscal year. Sony Interactive Entertainment also shared that there are 123 million monthly active users on the PlayStation Network as of June 30, 2025.

The monthly active users are up seven million compared to last year which was at 116 million active users.

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software sold a combined 65.9 million units during the three months ending June 30, 2025. Software sales are up 12.3 million from the 53.6 million that were sold at the same time in 2024.

Another interesting note is that 83 percent of software sales were digital downloads, which is up three percent from last year.

Sony is the last remaining company of the big three that has yet to raise its console prices. Xbox had to raise its console prices, and Nintendo raised the prices of the Switch 1 and other accessories for that platform.
