This week turned to be a monumental urge for conversation regarding the PlayStation 5 as Sony in an abrupt announcement decided to showcase the upcoming controller for the next-generation console, the DualSense. Right off the bat, users online began picking apart the new gamepad from the contrasting look of its design when reflecting to preceding DualShock controllers.

Despite how the controller might look, the DualSense does introduce new features and reiterates on the problems that the previous DualShock 4 was burdened with. Listing issues such as the battery life which many have been vocal about or the gripping for the controller which Sony shared to be even more comfortable with the coming DualSense.

However, while discussing some of the technological difference that is groundbreaking for the new controller, Sony failed to mention one element that was expected for the gamepad. The company did not disclose if there would be a headphone jack or not. And even with the pictures provided, we cannot see if there is one or not for the time being. Luckily, an employee at the firm shared that fans will rile themselves up on the matter.

On Twitter, Toshimasa Aoik responded to a thread discussing the headphone jack and confirmed that the DualSense will be equipped with one.

It is understandable where users might be coming from regarding the potential absence of the headphone jack as other products have been on a campaign for Bluetooth-only these past few years. But luckily, the PlayStation 5 controller did not sacrifice this feature despite some of the architectural overcomings that the hardware team had done to create the final product.

Additional implementations that the DualSense offers which the DualShock 4 is missing is Adaptive Triggers: similar to the Impulse Triggers for the Xbox One, when shooting or racing, the rumbling in the triggers give off a more tangible interpretation of the world when playing. Sony even with all the additiosn that make the DualSense so unique also announced that the gamepad will still be lighter than the current DualShock 4 impressively enoungh.

Are you excited to get you hands on a DualSense controller?

The DualSense is expected to launch alongside the PlayStation 5 which is scheduled to release later in holiday 2020.
