In 2024, Asobo Studio shipped Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Rectify Gaming scored it a 9/10 then. “If you can look beyond the occasional performance hiccups on PC and the lingering graphical quirks that continue to be addressed through updates, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is an experience that simply shouldn’t be missed. For the ultimate immersion, a flight stick is highly recommended, but even with a controller, the game delivers an engaging and authentic sense of piloting.”
The following year, it was confirmed that the title would then ship to PlayStation 5. Additionally, a PlayStation VR 2 version would also be launched as well at a later time in 2026. On the topic of multiplatform releases, boss Jorg Neumann took credit for what might be the stepping stones for the now embraced release pattern by Microsoft in recent years.
Now this week, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is back with a new update. In the patchwork, PlayStation VR 2 is now compatible with the immersive aviation title. You can watch the update trailer in the video below:
“This new true-to-life experience delivers an enhanced level of authenticity in simulated flying for both fans and newcomers alike. With 125 different aircraft to fly, each with a unique experience via VR, you’ll be closer than ever to experiencing the incredible sensation of flight straight from your console. The sky is calling!” the overview from the video’s description reads.
In the blog post, Asobo Studio emphasizes on new elements injected with the new update to complement PlayStation VR 2. “Simmers can now toggle the HUD off specifically for VR while keeping it on for 2D play.” And, “Tooltip cards in VR are now positioned closer to the switches you’re looking at, reducing eye strain and ‘floaty’ UI.”
