As we already know, the growing list of nostalgic and miniature consoles are on the rise and selling fast since the debut of Nintendo’s NES Classic two years ago. Following the release of the subsequent SNES Classic, and announcements from both Sega and PlayStation for similar products, fans are eager to see what’s next in line for an official debut.
To that end, a trademark was discovered for a silhouetted N64 controller, similar to what was for the NES and SNES when looking at the box that these Classic Editions ship in.

Though this trademark is exciting to see for fans anticipating a re-release of the 1996 console, it isn’t a solid confirmation that we will have an N64 Classic in the near future. Could this be a promising sign for potential things to come, or could this simply just be an update for the original trademark?
Looking at the previous trademarks applied for both the Game Boy and GameCube, we still haven’t received any update on what Nintendo has planned for the handheld and console.
With the recent reveal of the PlayStation Classic, if Nintendo plans to reveal the potential N64 Classic we could see a fun revival of the console feud from back in the late-90s.
As for what games might be included in the hypothetical N64 Classic, it is at least interesting to consider. For Nintendo to acquire the license for nearly two-decades-old games like GoldenEye may prove to be a big hurdle for the publisher.
