Reanimal is a survival horror-adventure video game that blends gameplay elements like story-driven exploration, cooperative play, and cinematic platforming. You avoid monstrous enemies rather than fighting them, and solve the puzzles to progress.
You and your sister escape the island while searching for your three missing friends. Many obstacles require both siblings to work together. You gain access to a boat, which lets you explore more open areas and find optional paths. Dead in the Water is the chapter in Reanimal where you enter the beach and explore the area with your sister.

Chapter 1: Dead in the Water Walkthrough
You start on a boat in the water and find a girl on your way. Take control and drive forward following the line of red buoys. Multiple missables require exploring alternative paths instead of always heading straight. The game sometimes auto-saves on progression. This allows the missed collectibles to force a new playthrough to get 100% completion.
Ride the Boat
The game begins with you in a boat. You see the blinking red lights on buoys on your way. Holding the LT on the controller allows you to move the boat left or right, and RT to increase the speed. Eventually, you find your sister, and a cutscene triggers.
Continue moving straight towards the red lighting till you find a canyon. Keep following the path till you find yourself in front of two distinct paths on both sides. You can choose any of the paths, as you reach the same designated area. Spending more time on the boat while sailing allows you to collect the Lost at Sea achievement.
Be mindful of the spiky mines while traversing in the water. If you are somehow hit by the spike, your boat collapse and you need to restart. After going through the mines, keep following the straight path ahead of you. Once you cover a small distance, you finally reach the beach at the end. Move out of the beach and go to the east side.
Mill & Sewage Areas
Find all the suitcases while exploring the beach to locate a key in one of them. Once you find the key, hit the ‘Y’ button to collect the key and return to the locked door. Take out your key and interact with the door to unlock it. Take the ladder in front of you and continue descending. Move to the right side and jump on the upper ledge to keep following the path.
Eventually, you get inside the tunnel with a moving fan. You need to stop the fan from passing through it. Approach the stairs and hit the lever to cut off the power to the fan. The lever switches back after a short time, so quickly go through the stopped fab before it starts rotating again.
I recommend one player passing through the fan and hitting the lever from the other side to turn it off.
While playing solo, you need to quickly sprint through the fans before it starts again. After reaching the other side, you must move up the hatch door. Descend to the hatch and continue following the path. Turn on the crouch mode to pass through the small opening in the middle. You find another ladder to move after taking a few steps ahead.
Get Inside the Office
A giant unknown entity is passing through the gate on the right side. Before we can reach the gate, it gets closed automatically. Make your way to the right and then take a left turn to find a ledge in front of you. The ledge is at a high position, so you must work in a team to get up to the wall.
Follow the path on the left and use the ladder to move up to the higher ground.
Follow the pipe while traversing this path to locate the drain pipe. Interacting with the drain pipe allows you to see your friend. Take the stairs on the right to move up and keep moving till you find a bridge. There’s a door on the left, which is locked.
Pass through the bridge in front of you and turn to the left. Approach the second door and interact with it to get inside.
Go to the top of the office room and turn on the power by hitting the lever. Taking a seat near the computer desk allows you to obtain the Take A Load Off trophy.
Get to the Top of the Cliff
Make your way out of the office after turning on the power. Approach the bridge and pass through it to find the ladder. You need to go to the right to locate this ladder and use it to move down. Make sure that one player holds the level on the bridge while climbing the wall. Holding this lever allows you to stop the pipe from rotating.
The second player must go down and pass through the lever to climb the ladder. After that, push down the bridge from the first player to create a path for him. Get inside the door in front of you and continue moving till you find the locker room.
Move to the top of the room and take the exit door to leave. Continue following the linear path on the left and find the vent to jump through. Pass through the pipe in front of the room till you find your friend moving. Take the ladder to climb up to the cliff.
Train Yard & Conveyor
You need to go through the brick tunnel while following the track in front of you. There’s a movable card on the track in the courtyard. Two of the wheels are missing that must be collected from the track on the right. Once obtained, put them in the blank slot on the cart. Make your way to the right to find two doors.
Choose the small doorway to pass through on the right of the courtyard. Move inside the bathroom and continue moving from the small gap in the wall to the door on the right. Pick up the plunger from the side of the body after going to the right and use it to open the lid in the toilet.
Find the Train Car
Pick up the required key and go all the way to the courtyard to unlock the door on the left. Get inside the building and take the stairs to move up. Make a big jump to go through the gap to get to the doorway. Sitting on the chair after jumping across the gap on the floor allows you to get the Take a Load Off trophy.
Move towards the storage room and approach the wheel of the cart on the railway track. Interact with it to pick it up and quickly return to the courtyard. Put the second when on the card and jump on. Hitting the ‘Y’ key allows you to hold the pump. Change the position of the pump by using the LT on the controller. Move all the way to the dead-end, and get down from the cart. Go to the right to find the train.
Escape from Train
Once you reach there, you find the two trains with a friend on the second train. Keep moving and use the ladder to move up. Cross the first car and go through the doors till you encounter the first enemy. You need to quickly hide yourself under one of the seats.
Don’t come out till this enemy moves away from here. Turn on the stealth mode and continue following this enemy.
Hold the LT to stay in stealth mode after exiting the train. Move quickly behind the suitcases till the enemy shows you his back. Use this opportunity to move to the second train. Continue moving inside the train till you enter the control room. Hit the lever to start the train, and the enemy starts chasing you. Move to the back side of the train and exit from the door on the left.
Find the Parked Car
Find the ladder on the left side to get to the top of the other train. Move across the train and go through the gaps by jumping over the cars. Jump down from the train and continue following the track. Locate the upper ledge on the right and jump over it.
An unknown entity attacks you here, so rapidly jump across the gaps to avoid getting caught. Another entity starts attacking you after moving to the other side. Pass through the gap on the right and move into the area where they came from.
Make your way all the way to the hill and use the rock to jump over the fence. Go to the left and grab the structure from the tree. Move to the right side this time and chop the tree to make a path. Pass through this bridge by using the LT to move through. Once on the other side, continue moving till you come across the other fence. Descend from the cliff to enter the wild.
Make your way from the ice cream bus, and a small cutscene commences after jumping down. Go through the hill on the left, and you find a car parked here. Move to the front of the driver’s side door and set the gear into neutral. The car starts moving down the hill to destroy the gate ahead.
Below are all the instructions for collecting three masks to obtain the Beneath the Masks achievement.
- Bird Head Mask: Use the ladder to get to the top after reaching the sewer. Move to the left and pass through the door to find the mask inside the crate.
- Worm Head Mask: Get inside the locked room after completing the pipe platform puzzle and move inside the corner on the right to find this mask near the sink.
- Conch Head Mask: Move to the right through the door from the hand car and get inside the storage room to find this mask.
You also get the secret code clue from the side room in the train yard before repairing the hand cart. This code is used in Chapter 6: Nobody Left Behind to unlock a secret bunker.
