In the recent string of news for Riot Games, the firm did confirm its plans to bring Valorant to consoles. Atop of that, the firm has also announced a new arrangement with Xbox Game Pass for its titles too. More specifically, subscribers will gain access to full rosters in League of Legends & Valorant alongside other in-game goodies for Legends of Runeterra and Team Fight Tactics.

Elsewhere, the firm did confirm the greater League of Legends universe is expanding to 2D fighting games. Announcing Project L back in October 2019, we learned the series is bringing a new genre to the mix in collaboration with Radiant Entertainment (Stonehearth). Since then, glimpses of the game has been shared with small development updates.

According to a recent announcement from Riot Games, the project is said to be a free-to-play experience come the launch of the game later on. You can watch the development update video below:

“We want you to be able to play no matter where you live, what your skill level is, or how much money you have to spend on a game. To that, I’m happy to confirm that Project L will be free-to-play,” says Tom Cannon, Project L Senior Director & Executive Producer says. “If you’ve played a Riot game before, this probably won’t come as a surprise. Our team is made up of fighting game veterans and folks that are passionate about serving the FGC.

“And we operate with one approach: if we wouldn’t like it, we won’t do it. When it comes to monetization, we promise to be respectful of your time and your wallet,” Cannon added. The video goes on to showcase some new information on a new fighter coming to the game, Illaoi.

Elsewhere recently, it was revealed that yet another game set to launch in the coming future will be free-to-play. In that, Full Circle’s Skate will be releasing with the same business model in mind in the coming future. You can read the full report by heading here.
