Recently fans this Fall have been occupied with Rockstar Games’ most recent title Red Dead Redemption 2, technically five years after their last title released from the California-based studio with Grand Theft Auto V. Among other Rockstar titles, the nine year-old announced title Agent has recently got its trademark dropped from Rockstar Games according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
When checking the current status on the trademark, it reads:
Abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.
Despite the statement regarding the game’s trademark, Rockstar still has the website live for the unreleased title. But how it currently looks for the game’s future, don’t be surprised if the site is down in the near future for the PlayStation 3 exclusive title.
Looking at the contemporaneous position the titles released from Rockstar, it isn’t that big of a surprise Agent won’t be making it to shelves when pinned alongside Red Dead & Grand Theft Auto. While other titles like Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Max Payne 3 were released between the 2009 announcement to now, the games don’t hold up to the two notorious juggernaut titles.
Previously it was discovered that casting call for what might be Bully 2 was found to be held in the U.K.. It was reported that the unannounced sequel to the 2006 title could possibly be what Rockstar Games has planned for their next title. As the studio head has stated there won’t be a GTA 6 to be coming anytime soon, the chances of seeing the fan requested title returning is more likely to happen.
