Call of Duty releases over the last five years have included both generations of consoles. We have seen the likes of Modern Warfare, Black Ops: Cold War, Modern Warfare 2 and 3, and Black Ops 6 release on Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|s.
Although the PS4 and Xbox One console generations are over a decade old, they are still being supported, along with enhancements released later on. The reason Call of Duty is still supported on those consoles is that a significant portion of the player base comes from those platforms.
Is Call of Duty 2025 releasing on Xbox One and PS4?
According to CharlieIntel, sources close to the outlet share that Call of Duty 2025 is in development for the PS4 and Xbox One. Making it a real possibility the trend will continue.
Many believe that releasing new games on the older consoles still holds Call of Duty back from putting more features. One of the examples is having two big maps in Warzone at the same time as CharlieIntel mentions.
While Call of Duty 2025 might be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, there is a solid chance we will see it come to the Nintendo Switch 2. When Microsoft acquired Activision it was agreed with Nintendo that Call of Duty games would come to the platform over the next 10 years.
It’s still early in the year to learn about the next Call of Duty installment, but leaks for this franchise typically emerge around this time.
Stay tuned for more updates.
