It has been over three years already since Supermassive Games released story thriller Until Dawn for PlayStation 4, reintroducing a clichéd plot yet expanding on character development and player outcome by giving players the responsibility to steer how the game unfolds. Now it seems that we might have a sequel coming our way in the near future.
In a post on ResetEra, Supermassive Executive Director Pete Samuels has stated that more PlayStation-only titles are in the works in an interview with Russian technology outlet 4PDA. Telling the website that the relationship between Sony and the developer is still pretty close:
Well, the relationship with Sony is still excellent. We are working on several unannounced PS-exclusives.
Continuing on from his statement, Samuels explains why their upcoming series of short thrillers for Dark Pictures Anthology, detailing that he ” really wanted to present our work to the widest possible audience. That is, The Dark Pictures needs to be released on several platforms.”
While we cannot get a firm idea of what’s to be coming from the UK-based studio, many already speculated that we will see a sequel to their previous title. With other titles the studio crafted like Killzone HD and DLC for LittleBigPlanet titles, we might expect something of a similar caliber in the near future.
With the developer’s attempt to expand on the series’ world with the VR prequel The Inpatient, it projects the team is still eager to grow out the world revolving around it. For when we could expect to see an announcement is unsure as Samuels didn’t disclose how long the exclusive titles have been in development. Following the recent news that Sony will be absent for next year’s E3, it is unclear how the company plans to reveal their upcoming titles in the works.
Until Dawn is available now exclusively for PlayStation 4.
