In this guide, we’ll discuss how to complete the Altar Puzzle in Silent Hill f, including some major hints and clues.

How To Complete the Altar Puzzle

Altar Puzzle Solution

You can find the Altar in the Grand Hall after defeating the monsters in Ebisugaoka. The goal is to solve the Altar puzzle to explore the Dark Shrine Path. You’ll see five pedestals, each with a decoration like a knot symbol, plant symbol, or no symbol, depending on difficulty, and five offerings. Place the correct offering on the matching pedestal from left to right to solve the puzzle. The order for Story Difficulty is Dress, Rat, Pot, Branches, and Fan.

However, the order for Hard Difficulty is Fan, Branches, Pot, Dress, and Rat. The order for the Lost in the Fog is Fan, Branches, Dress, Rat, and Pot. Inspect each offering closely, as each one has elements like botanical and pattern. These elements match one of the pedestal decorations. Pedestals have clear symbols on Story Difficulty. The markings are fainter on Hard Difficulty, so make sure to pay attention. Start from the left pedestal and work across to complete the little puzzle.

Story Difficulty Solution

Story

Have a keen eye on the pedestal in the shrine. Each one of them has an image painted below it. Pick one of the items, as remembering them is not required here. Match the string bow with the image on the pedestals. Make sure to match the knots wrapped around the items with the knot symbols. After that, placing them in order allows you to solve this puzzle in story difficulty.

  • The Rat on the back left pedestal.
  • The Pink Kimono is on the front left.
  • The Vase in the middle.
  • Wrapped Fish on the back right
  • Paper Fan on the front right.

Hard Difficulty Solution

Hard

The Altar pedestals show flower and plant symbols on Hard Difficulty. This time, there are no knots, as that was in the Story Difficulty Solution. You can get the clue from the Altar, but it lacks bearing on solving the puzzle. Inspect each time carefully to match its floral or botanical patterns to the respective pedestal symbol and place them in order. Initiate from left to right to solve this puzzle. Rotate the items to find markings on these items. The markings are somehow similar to those on the pedestal.

  • The Wrapped Fish on the back left pedestal.
  • The Paper Fan on the front left.
  • The Vase in the center.
  • Pink Kimono on the back right.
  • Rat on the front right.

The puzzle will be completed with this, so leave the Grand Hall before losing your Sanity.

Lost in the Fog Difficulty Solution

Below are the Altar Puzzle Lost in the Fog Difficulty Clue.

  • Kudzu, respected by all and a leader of the people, was wed to Pine.
  • Plum, loved by all and always at the center of any group, was wed to Bamboo.
  • Chrysanthemum, who had no mate, spent their days studying under Kudzu and became known as the “Sage of the East.”
  • Let the prosperity of our clan be eternal.

The Altar pedestals lack symbols for Lost in the Fog difficulty. You also gain a poem that hints at the order of the items. Arrange the Altar items from left to right in order by solving the riddle.

  • Fan
  • Branches
  • Dress
  • Rat
  • Pot

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
