Sony has announced that the beta for PlayStation 4 system update 4.0 codenamed “ Shingen” will roll out to people that signed up for the beta a few weeks ago. Sony also announced some of the new features that will be apart of the upcoming update.
Share Menu: Sony has changed the way that the share menu now looks, before it used to take up the full screen but now it will only cover a portion of the screen when you press the share button and will also save the last social network site that you used to share a video clip or a screenshot instead of you having to pick which one to share to. Folders and new Library
Organization: Sony at last has finally added folders which is something we have been waiting for since the PlayStation 4 was released almost 3 years ago. The PlayStation 3 and Vita have had them for ages so it’s nice to see the PS4 get them as well. The Library has also gotten a new purchased content tab which will show all of the content that you own while the main library will show just what is installed on your PS4. You will also be able to sort content by date that you purchase the content or you can search for a specific game/app which is nice to see.
Trophy Improvements: We also get the ability to see trophies offline which is also something that the PS3 and Vita have had for ages, so again it’s nice to see the PS4 finally get that as well. You can also reveal the content of hidden trophies too but by default they will be hidden.
Quick Menu: Just like the Share Menu, the quick menu has also gotten a big update which will only take up a portion of the screen. You will be able to view trophies, and also be able to customise the quick menu to add shortcuts for features that you want to access quickly. UI refresh: Last but not least Sony has done some improvements to the PlayStation Dynamic Menu UI, which includes revised pop-up notifications, updated system icons and more.
Sony has said this is just a little of what will be added in the new 4.0 update but it’s safe to say that this is likely the best update yet. What else are you hoping that Sony will add to the 4.0 update? let us know!.
