This week, the PlayStation 5 Pro officially launches. An anticipated machine that divides itself from the base model offers power-driven new features alongside more memory than prior iterations. One of the most unique aspects for the PlayStation 5 Pro is the price – $699. A very large asking price – especially when the disc drive is not included with this digital-only model.
But what it doesn’t make in expected support, it does in enhancements for compatible games. With the announcement of the console, it was confirmed about 50+ titles will face improvements focused on the hardware. And recently, the PlayStation firm revealed those titles consisting of Alan Wake 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and No Man’s Sky just to name a few.
However, while the new console does bring new workings that delivers a more seamless experience, it is not a next-generation console. In that, PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino when speaking to Variety explained just that, he went ahead to disclose that players will find a better experience on PlayStation 5 Pro, but to tame truly groundbreaking differences from the base PlayStation 5.
“I just wanted to say that the Pro is not a next gen. It is still in the PS5 generation. PS5 Pro will do everything what PS5 does. So it’s a consumer choice. If they see a need for more visuality, they will get it. So we wanted to provide an option for the consumer within the generation, that’s what we’re doing.”
The PlayStation 5 Pro has brought some new perspective to fans on the platform since its reveal. Namely its questionable pricing and missing disc player does leave more less desiring the console. One more, it was reported that the PlayStation 5 Pro is not even compatible with the different console covers that released before. You can read the full report by heading here.
