Square Enix Confirms Next-Generation Versions For Marvel’s Avengers

The still awaited release for Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers slowly inches closer to its September release with summer officially arriving this week. In that, the wait was prolonged for nearly four months following the abrupt delay of the game back in January. The developer shared that the issues the team faced alongside supporting studio Eidos Montreal would require more time to fine tune the core gameplay elements to meet the criteria of both video game players and Marvel fans as well.

And now witnessing how close the game is suspected from arriving alongside the later debut for next-generation consoles, you would suspect an updated version of the action-adventure title would be in line to complement the coming systems. Well actually, that’s right as Square Enix announced the news this week.

In a press release, the publisher discloses that the game will officially be available on both Sony and Microsoft’s flagship units when they arrive later this holiday season.

Featuring extremely fast load times, boosted resolution and fidelity, improved texturing and armor destruction, ray tracing, and more – Marvel’s Avengers will look and play great on next-gen systems.

Atop of the new versions that will be available day one of the consoles arriving, Square Enix continues by sharing that owners of the game on current-generation hardware will be able to upgrade for free. The firm emphasizes to disregard how players migrate to the newer consoles – stating that their saves will transfer over and “pick up right where they left off.”

Most exciting news is that cross-gen play will be supported as well between Xbox One & Xbox Series X and PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5. However, Square Enix does fail to leave out the possibility of cross-platform play between both console families for current and next-generation systems. The firm also goes to feature some of the advantages of the PlayStation 5 version of the game and pens that details for the Xbox Series X and PC version will be touched upon at a later date.
