Starfield has long been reported to come to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. However, the question is when it will come to these platforms. According to Windows Central, Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 in 2026, along with a big update to the game.
New reports are suggesting that Starfield’s new update in 2026 will improve its loading screen space flight systems. The outlet also reports that space flight will now feel more fluid and continuous. The Creation Engine has undergone significant technical enhancements to support these systems, which will also impact future games.
As previously reported, Microsoft and Bethesda had plans to release these major updates for Starfield in 2025, along with its multi-platform release. There were also claims that this update would be similar to the “Cyberpunk 2.0” update that Cyberpunk 2077 released post-launch. However, Jez Corden doesn’t believe that might be happening, according to his sources.
It’s unknown when Starfield will be coming to PlayStation and Nintendo in 2026 at this time. Microsoft plans to host another Developer Direct in January, which could give us the announcement we’ve been waiting for.
