Some birds require multiple feed cycles to hit 100 Trust. Once the birds are tamed, they perch on your arm when idle. Bird pets behave like dogs or cats. They automatically pick up items from defeated enemies and nearby drops. Collect loot on the ground around corpses and do it automatically without player input. This one is harder to miss when wings are open because they’re much brighter than others. Unlike other birds, like sparrows or parrots, taming the Legendary Phoenix is very different and difficult. The best possible way to get this bird is to kill it using the weapon. Make your way to the Phoenix region and wait in a high vantage point. Once located, equip the bow Charged Shot and Explosive arrows. I recommend aiming precisely to hit it with a charged explosive arrow, as missing the shot lets it fly away quickly. The Phoenix can feel almost invincible without explosive arrows or Charged Shot.

They are built around a trust system mechanic, which is the core of how pets work. The animal becomes your permanent pet and is added to your pet inventory after taking them in.

They are useless in combat, but crucial to looting the defeated enemies to fill up the inventory with useful items. Petting and feeding are the two unique features that increase the trust to adopt the animal as a pet.

What is Pet in Crimson Desert

Pets are animal companions in Crimson Desert that you can befriend, and they join your adventure. Besides the cosmetic, they give support in combat, exploration, and looting items. Cats and dogs are currently available as pet animals in the game, so you can find multiple versions of them.

Every animal starts with 0 trust that can increase to 100, letting you adopt it. Petting and feeding the animal allows you to increase the trust level with these loyal companions. Once trust reaches 100, you can select “Take In” to make it your pet.

How To Summon Pets

Once you reach +100 trust, hold the button prompt to claim it as your own. Open your inventory, move to the Pets tab, and press the LMB on a pet to summon them. Gain Trust By Petting Animals

Petting the animals in Crimson Desert lets you gain their trust. Although this method is not quick to get trust, it still works.

• Approach the dogs and hold the interaction button to pet them.
• Pick up the cat by holding the button prompt, and then press the pet button while holding it.

Just standing near them doesn’t increase the trust, making the interaction essential. Petting the animal grants +5 trust level, and you can get +25 trust from petting per day. You can pet up to 5 times per in-game day, and you stop gaining trust from petting after five pets. This requires you to wait for the next in-game day.

It’s worth mentioning that you cannot tame an animal in one go using only petting. I recommend using the pass time feature to reset the limit, letting you pet more animals quickly without any delay. You need 100 trust total to adopt an animal, so it takes about 4 in-game days to get the trust meter to 100.

Gain Trust By Feeding Animals  

If you feel that petting the animals to gain their trust takes too much time, you can feed them to raise the bar quickly. This process gives much higher trust per action, but it requires favorite food items. You can gather the food by hunting wildlife, buying ingredients from vendors in towns such as Hernand, or utilizing camp dispatches.

Kill the goats in the Steel Mountains for significant amounts of meat, hide, and bones. Visit the butchery vendor to purchase meat and cooking ingredients. Make sure to find recipes marked with a scroll icon on the minimap to make the favorite food. Below are the steps to feed the animals in Crimson Desert.

• Open your inventory.
• Select a food item like meat, fish, egg, and more.
• Drop it on the ground near the animal and wait for a few seconds.
• The animal walks over and eats it, letting you increase the trust quickly.

Keep in mind that the NPCs and other animals can try to steal the food if you drop it in a higher traffic area. Feeding the dogs meat (Fine Meat) lets you earn +35 trust and +10 trust for low-quality meat. Cats usually prefer fish, bird meat, and milk, and each feeding gives +10 trust.

Cats are pickier and slower to tame, but dogs are easy to satisfy and gain trust. The game lets you feed an animal up to 3 times per in-game day, and you stop gaining trust after this limit. Feeding the dog thrice a day gives +105 trust and +30 for the cats in a day.

Tip: Use high-quality meat for dogs and combine feeding & petting to maximize daily trust. Drop food close to the target animal to avoid losing it.

How To Get the Pet Armor

You can get the special type of equipment to put on your animal companions in Crimson Desert. Pet armor is basically clothing for your pets, but it doesn’t give any stats or gameplay bonuses. These are mainly used to customize your pet’s appearance and make it look unique.

Cooking is basically a way to turn resources into powerful buffs, especially useful while defeating the elite enemies or bosses.

How To Cook in Crimson Desert

Cooking in Crimson Desert only happens at a large campfire with a cooking pot. You need the required ingredients to cook any recipe. Campfires are located scattered all around the world, especially in villages, watchtowers, and camps. In this open-world action RPG, Cooking is essential for restoring health, spirit, and stamina while fighting enemies.

Consuming the cooked food grants you temporary buffs to keep you in the fight longer as a Greymane Mercenary. You can cook at the bonfires, camp pots, or the town cooking station. Once you find any of them, interact with them to open the menu. A recipe is not required to start cooking any food. Select the Improvise option and merge materials like raw meat, grains, herbs, or water.

Simple dishes like grilled meat use 1x Raw Meat for quick health recovery, while other dishes require 1x Meat, 1x Grain, and 1x Water. You need to experiment with making different dishes using multiple ingredients for unique buffs.

Cooking is important before difficult fights or exploration. Improvise and try substituting ingredients rather than using Lean Meat. The objectives and progression in Crimson Desert follow the day-and-night cycle. Use a bed, camp, or advanced time for quests to pass the time. You can’t spam sleep repeatedly due to the cooldown or fatigue system.

Skipping the time is beneficial whether you’re waiting on a vendor restock, trying to complete the quests, or any other objective. Sleeping on the bed and resting at the campfire are the best ways to kill time and wake up at your desired set time.   

Passing the Time Overview

Crimson Desert is designed to progress in day and night. Some quests are available during the daytime, while the other quests can only be completed during the night. If you think you have to wait for nighttime to complete the specific objectives or do other tasks, then you’re very much wrong.

You can skip the time by using the different methods, like interacting with the campfire, sleeping on any bed, or advancing time to activate quests. Each of these ways lets you pass the time quickly, so consider any of them.

Certain creatures only spawn during a specific time of the day, making it crucial to skip that time. The game doesn’t really explain how to move the time forward. Skipping time is a good mechanic if you want to reset the vendor’s inventory, which resets at midnight.

How To Sleep on Bed

The primary way to skip time is to find and interact with the bed to sleep on it in Crimson Desert. Move into any house in the town or village that has the door open. Once you find the bed, approach it and interact with it to sleep.

Moving time through the beds is actually easy and doesn’t have any consequences. However, you can sleep again for a certain period of time after sleeping on the bed. You can sleep again after some time has passed, and fatigue builds up again. Choose how much time to skip when sleeping on a bed:

• 3 hours
• 6 hours
• 12 hours

Rest At Campfire

The other easiest way to pass the time in Crimson Desert is to head to any bonfire/campfire. Use Focus to lock onto it by holding L1 and LB on the controller or CTRL on the keyboard. You get the option to press Square to actually cook. However, to pass the time, what you need to do is hold down L1 to aim directly at the cauldron on the bonfire.

Doing so lets you gain the option to press X to wait. After pressing the button, you get three options in the lower right side of the screen. The game allows you to choose to wait for 3 hours, 6 hours, or 12 hours. Keep in mind that there’s a bit of a cooldown on the time passing mechanic. The early cooking pot is located in Hernand Town on the right of the meat vendor.

Advance Time For Quests

You can also choose to save your time when activating quests in Crimson Desert. You get a clue to skip the time after reaching the quest marker, and the quest giver is somehow not there. Press the ESC button on the keyboard to pass the time, allowing the quest giver to spawn. This lets you avoid the option to choose the time to skip.

Greymane Camp in Howling Hill, Hernand Town, Settlements, your own home, and campfires are the best places to sleep and pass the time. The campfires are all scattered around the world, or you can also build your home and place the bed inside.

Crimson Desert offers multiple distinct mounts for players to pet or tame for their own benefits. A horse is one of the reliable mounts that comes with unique starting skills. Taming them can be a bit challenging, as you’ve limited stamina early on.  

Horses can also be stolen or purchased at stables, not just tamed. A minigame requires keeping the camera behind the horse and holding the opposite movement direction while managing the stamina.  Instead of just using stealth, you can buy or find treats like carrots, sugar cubes, or hay to feed the horses.

How To Find the Wild Horse

Horses in Crimson Desert roam in herds in grassy areas, especially near river regions to the east and south of Hernand Town. Press the Up button on the D-pad and the H button on the keyboard to summon the horse after taming it. You can’t find the horse anywhere, as they’re only located in specific areas. If you’re lucky enough to spot the horse, don’t try to run towards it openly. The horse can run away if it sees you approaching, so try to sneak up on it from behind to tame it.

Taming in Crimson Desert is unlocked after reaching Chapter 6 while completing the main story. You get a small tutorial on how to tame the mounts and their mechanics. Taming the horse doesn’t require you to follow any time, but you can do it anytime, whenever you want.

How To Tame a Horse

Taming a horse in Crimson Desert is a core mechanic for acquiring mounts and companions. This allows you to tame wild horses and build trust with animals like dogs and cats to make them companions. You can also use the horse tonic and feed horses hay, sugar, or carrots to make the taming process easier. Run up towards the horse and get on their back.

It’s easier to do if you do it right away, if they don’t see you. After that, you hold your thumb sticker on how the mouse and keyboard move in the opposite direction of the direction he’s facing. If the horse turns right, you hold towards the left. The objective is to hold your movement towards his back. Once you do that, you’re left with no stamina. Make sure to adjust the camera angle while taming the wild horse.

The horse then kicks you off, eventually, and then you keep following, trying to get back on. I recommend you upgrade your stamina later in the game before taming the horse. Make sure to run up and then jump on if you still have the stamina left. It gives you his stats to give a rundown. You can also choose to register and ride them right away. If you’re on a controller, hold your left stick in the opposite direction of wherever the horse is facing while it’s trying to kick you off, making the lasso meter go up.

Once done taming the horse, you can choose to either ride it, register and ride, or register and send it to a stable. You don’t need to wait for Chapter 6 to tame the horse; you can do this in the beginning if you find it while exploring the world.

How To Heal a Horse

Your horse can also get injured while riding it in Crimson, and it gets slower. The game offers a way to heal them, but you don’t have to spend a single dime to purchase any item. After progressing enough into the story, you gain access to the Force Palm of Healing. This ability is unlocked by using the Abyss Artificial. Hit the right stick to charge the ability when you have an Abyss Artificial. After that, switch to Healing Force Palm. All you have to do is aim and punch your horse.

You may notice that the blood goes away, and with the second punch, the horse gets rid of the blood. A horse can get hurt if you can’t defeat the boss and commit a horse. You can choose to heal them at a Stable, feed them, and use a Force Palm.

Healing the horse at a stable is quite costly, but it is the fastest method. Make your way to the nearest stable with your horse and acquire the Stablehand to retrieve & Heal Hose. It can cost you silver or copper ore, based on how much the horse is injured.

Feed the Horse For Health

Feeding the horse their favorite food allows the horse to gain a small amount of health. Using this technique is not beneficial if your horse is badly injured and can’t move. I recommend that you give them food only if the injuries are small. Below are all the food items you can use to give different amounts of health to a horse in Crimson Desert.

• Sugar Beat: Horses gain a small amount of health.
• Sugar Cubes: Horses gain a medium amount of health.
• Hay: Allows the hose to get moderate health.

The question arises of how I can tell that the horse is injured in Crimson Desert. You need to check for injuries like cuts and blood. When you summon the horse, it automatically sits on the ground and tries to stand. If you see the horse is having trouble moving and has blood, then it means you have to heal it.

All Horse Starting Skills

The horse also comes with its skills that you can use while riding it in Crimson Desert. Using these skills allows you to use the horse effectively and cover the distance quickly. You can purchase the food from the Saddlery by spending the in-game money. Below are all the skills that you can use while mounted on the horse.

• Dash: Hit the shift button on the keyboard to move fast.
• Drift: Press WASD and Alt to move quickly while dashing.
• Back Kick: Kick the enemy standing behind by pressing the RMB.

How To Get Pet Armor

You can buy pet armor in Crimson Desert from a pet shop in the Shei village area called Pororin. The pet armor shop on the map often shows a paw icon once you discover the location. To unlock Pororin Village in Crimson Desert, you must trigger the Unreachable Village side quest. Make your way to the forest in the southeastern part of Hernand.

The Shai children knock you out with darts and drag you away. Approach the village and get dragged away a total of three times, allowing you to trigger the Unreachable Village quest. Speak with the girl in the yellow frock standing nearby after the third time. Open the map and follow the quest marker to a nearby area. Climb a giant walking tree and take the relic from its head. Give the relic back to the Arkin to enter the village without getting knocked out.

After getting inside the village, move to the northeast side to locate Pororin Pet Shop. This shop is available northwest of the Dyehouse. Make sure to look for a paw icon on the map or explore the village area to find the pet armor vendor.

Get inside the shop and interact with the vendor to view and buy pet armor for your pet. Once purchased, equip the pet armor by opening your inventory. Go to the pet section, select your pet, and equip the armor item. The other pet ship is located in the southwest of the City of Demeniss. This location becomes accessible while progressing the main story quest in Chapter 8.

Crimson Desert offers multiple weapons for the players to use to defeat the enemies in combat, and Darkbringer is the best of them. The real power of this sword comes from its built-in ability, releasing explosive orbs that travel outward from your attack.

Getting this sword is not challenging, as it doesn’t require you to defeat the boss or solve the puzzle. Darkbringer uses the Abyss Gear system, which means Ator’s Orb ability can be removed and equipped on other weapons. On heavy attacks, it summons homing orbs that do damage, making this weapon essential to obtain.

Simply fat-travel to the Path of Trials Abyss if you have the Frost Magic. This location is west of Silver Wolf Mountain, north of Whisperleaf Fortress, and near Five-Finger Mountain.

The exact location is hidden in fog on the map, even after story progression. I recommend navigating manually using landmarks, not map markers. Head into a snowy biome and look for a large pit or crater and a giant partially buried skeleton. Go down into the pit and approach the skeleton.

Look carefully at the mouth of the skeleton and grab the Darkbringer. You don’t need to solve the puzzle or beat any boss to get this two-handed sword. Before heading out, make sure to grab the memory fragment from this location.

How To Get Money

Getting the money from the beginning is essential to make the progression smooth and purchase the high-level items from the vendors. Gold bars are one of the most valuable early sources of money. You can find them in hidden locations and sell them to the vendors to get a huge chunk of Silver. One gold bar can sell for around 500 silver or more, which is enough for a perfect start early on.

Once you have a gold bar, you can open a bank account and invest it to grow your wealth over time. Stealing from houses and looting strongboxes, wagons, and NPCs also grants you silver. Completing bounty missions in Crimson Desert also rewards you with silver. Playing games like Duo and winning at card tables can earn silver. How to Rob Hernand Bank

The game allows you to walk into the bank in Hernand and steal money from inside. Getting inside the room next to the tellers allows you to earn 100 silver if you take it without getting noticed. Make sure to equip a mask before stealing; without it, steal actions are disabled. You can obtain the mask from early bounties or specific vendors. A crime meter appears while stealing in Hernand Bank.

As long as NPCs don’t spot you while the meter runs down, you don’t get caught. I highly recommend robbing the bank in the evening because there is less foot traffic. Go inside the room on the left as you come into the front door. This room contains multiple chests on the floor that you can loot, but it also has safety deposit boxes all over the shelves.

After stealing one, go to your inventory and open up each box to get a huge amount of silver. Take a small hit to your contribution for each box you steal. Head into the main room and go all the way up the staircase to approach the wooden table. Reach the cabinet of small boxes and open each one of them to get silver and other useful items. Don’t try to steal when the guards are patrolling around this area.

How to Complete Bounties

Bounties in Crimson Desert are wanted missions where you find and capture the target. After that, you bring them back to a turn-in spot to get a silver reward. Completing the bounties is one of the reliable ways to earn money early in the game. Find a bounty notice on a board or in a town and read the notice to accept the bounty. You get the target’s location to complete your objective. Make sure to progress the main story to at least Chapter 2 before bounty missions become available.

You need to travel to the marked area on your map where the outlaw or wanted NPC is located. Keep in mind that some specific targets only appear at specific times of day or after certain conditions are met. After handing in the captured outlaw, you receive money (silver) and Contribution points. Contribution is a separate currency you can use to buy gear and items, which you can sell for silver.

Vendors are scattered throughout towns and marked on your map, so open the map and search for the merchant icon. Sell the items to the blacksmiths and traders in Hernand. Certain merchants or trade posts buy trade goods and unpackaged items at a good price. Once you reach Chapter 3, you unlock wagons and begin larger-scale trading.

How to Pickpocket

The game locks pickpocketing until you equip a mask in Crimson Desert. Successfully pickpocketed NPCs may have coin purses, copper pouches, jewellery, or trade goods. Pickpocketing gold bars from certain NPCs in places like the Wildlife Park allows you to get money. You can either sell the gold or invest it in the market for a huge profit, making it the best way to earn money fast.

A mask can be purchased from certain vendors or dropped by bandits upon defeating them. You need to sneak from behind towards the noble’s pouch to get the gold bar. If you’re seen, the crime fails, or guards get alerted. If you fail or are caught, you can be arrested or teleported to jail. First, you’ll need to identify your mark based on what they are potentially carrying.

You can do this by either using your blinding light or pointing your lantern at NPCs in the area. This lets you reveal a glowing silhouette of what they might be carrying. Pouches are often coin purses, while scroll-looking silhouettes can range anywhere from food items to valuable recipes. You can even get multiple off a single NPC, making this one of the most profitable methods of farming silver with an actual in-game system.

To successfully pull off a pickpocket, your mark needs to be standing, and you need to have some momentum and brush into the NPC. Simply unchath your weapon and guard if the mark is sitting down. As soon as you rush into them and the NPC staggers, you get a very quick prompt to pickpocket them. Immediately have an escape route in mind and quickly run to escape the theft circle that appears, avoiding as many other NPCs and guards as possible.

How to Exploit Gambling

Earning money in Crimson Desert early on can be easy if you take part in gambling activities. One of the easiest, albeit RNG, ways to make money in Crimson Desert is to exploit the gambling system. Save your game before playing or investing. If you lose or don’t get a good payout, reload the save and try again. This applies both to gambling outcomes and to bank investment returns.

One exploit method revolves around the Five-Card game. The AI opponents in the Five-Card game follow predictable patterns. They rarely initiate betting but will call or raise almost any bet you make. This exploit lets you farm Silver quickly by repeatedly winning bets. The table with the highest betting pool is found in Beighen, north of the Castle Hernand. Once there, make your way to the west-most house to find the table where this game is played. Make sure to save the game in case it does not go your way when you play.

The rules make it seem a bit complicated, but the overall strategy is simple. Just start up the round, and wait to see the hand that you are dealt. If it is a bust or anything below 5 points or so, either check or fold on our turn. If you have anything above five points, or especially if you have any “pairs,” you should go all in on your turn. If you win, though, then you must leave the table and save the game, then load up that new save.

Find the Treasure Goblins

Goblins are a type of enemy that can drop high-value items, including gold bars. This makes it worth a lot of silver and great for your bank or selling. Once you defeat a Treasure Goblin and get items like gold bars or valuable loot, sell the gold bar or valuable items to a merchant for silver. Use gold bars for investments to generate more silver over time.

Your best chance of forcing this to happen is by always trying to ride along the roads. You might run into a treasure goblin, a seemingly innocuous NPC with a large red treasure chest on its back. If you simply draw your sword on him, he drops his chest and eventually gets on his way. When you loot the chest, you’re one gold bar richer every time.

Loot Lioncrest Manor Gold Bar

The big money you can get from Lioncrest Manor comes from a hidden gold bar inside the manor in Crimson Desert. There’s a hidden compartment under a fireplace’s lion head mantlepiece inside Lioncrest Manor that holds a gold bar. That gold bar can be sold or used to open a bank account, which then lets you invest it to earn more money.

Lioncrest Manor is located northwest of Castle Hernand and near where the Archery competition is held. You can’t go in through the main door, but you can climb up the wall and open the window on the right. After that, climb in through there and make your way down to the main living room, where a fireplace is located.

You need a mask, and these can often be looted from defeated bandit enemies. Focus on the fireplace and aim your lantern’s spotlight at it, then hit the steel input to grab the 1x Gold Bar. This bar can respawn after some time or another trigger. The banker gives you 500 Silver Coins for 1 Gold Bar.

Make your to look for fancy clothes and relaxed behavior while finding the nobles. I recommend not wasting time stealing random targets, as it can damage your reputation.

Go to Hernand, scan all NPCs with a lantern, pickpocket nobles with gold bars, escape detection, and reset NPCs. You need to wear a mask, as you can’t pickpocket without one. Defeat the bandits to get the mask or purchase it directly from the shady shops. Use your lantern to scan NPCs and shine it near their waist. It automatically glows if they have the gold bar. Confirm the target if you see the noble having this currency in his pouch.

• Once you find the noble using the lantern, approach them from behind or the side to reach the pouch.
• Make sure to jog towards them and press the E for PC and X for Xbox to trigger the prompt.
• Once done with the pickpocket, a red detection zone appears.
• The goal is to run outside it before the timer ends or you get caught.

Nobles usually gather around manors, churches, and banks. There’s also a chance of finding them in parks and wildlife zones. Daytime is the best time to find them outside; fewer nobles appear during the night. Point your weapon towards this NPC to pickpocket if you see him sitting down. 3. Craft Gold Bar (Find Alchemy Recipe)

You cannot craft Gold Bars by default, requiring you to complete the Spire of Insight puzzle in southern Hernand. The Alchemy Recipe is found inside the puzzle area on a bookshelf. Make your way to the Witches’ hideouts and find the bookshelf beside the table. Look for the Alchemy recipe and learn it to craft the gold bars at the cauldron.

You need 10x Silver Ore, 3x Mercury, and 3x Brimstone for 1x Gold Bar. Silver Ore is obtained by mining in the Heart of the Saint cave near Hernand. Mercury & Brimstone can be located in later regions and are much rarer than silver. Silver ore appears in many mining deposits throughout the world, often in rock outcrops and caves.

Completing the Spire of Insight allows you to get the recipe for a gold bar from the last floor at the side of the bookshelf. Once you get the recipe and the required materials, you can craft this currency at a cauldron as long as you have the materials. Silver ores respawn after a few in-game days, so you can revisit the same mining spots regularly. Make sure to have a pickaxe equipped to mine efficiently and carry plenty of inventory space for ore.

4. Lioncrest Manor Gold Bar

This gold bar can also be obtained from inside Lioncrest Manor, which is just northwest of Hernand town. You cannot enter through the front because guards block the entrance. Make sure to go around to the back and climb up a wall to a second-floor window to get inside. Once inside, head to the first floor and find the fireplace with a stone lion’s head above it. Put out the fire and look just below the mantle. Look for the hidden compartment you can interact with to steal the gold bar.

Make sure to crouch, equip a mask, and use the steal option while holding the lantern to get the prompt to appear. I recommend robbing here at night or when fewer people are nearby to avoid getting caught. The gold bar doesn’t always respawn quickly after you take it, so it may not be available again right away. If you get caught, you still keep the gold bar even if you go to jail.

Reset Farming Loop

The gold bar you steal from the Lioncrest Manor fireplace does respawn in Crimson Desert. In some cases, it comes back after 5-7 in-game days or doesn’t respawn at all for them. There’s no guaranteed quick reset method like an exploit or fast reload.

Make sure to fast travel to another distant location, then return to the area to respawn the NPC loot. Save and reload before checking an area, so reload and check again if no gold bars appear.
