Recently Hollow Knight developer Team Cherry teased that a big reveal will be taking place on Valentine’s Day with the game’s Hornet to be involved with the implied expansion that’s soon to be revealed. But instead, the Australian studio revealed that the DLC expansion instead is a sequel rather than an addition to the game due to the massive amounts of content packed in it.

Announcing Hollow Knight: Silksong, the title features over 150 enemies, new quests, bosses, one new town, and world. Though the sequel will holds its similarities to the first game, Hornet hones her own set of abilities that varies from Hollow Knight such as more strategic acrobatic combat and a whole arsenal of weapons to use.

Those who backed Hollow Knight on Kickstarter will receive the game for free. Team Cherry’s Ari Gibson & William Pellen discuss the upcoming sequel in a separate video, expanding on what will be in the new title and the decision to make it a follow-up game. You can what the complete video here.

Hollow Knight: Silksong currently does not have a release date, but will be launching on both PC and Nintendo Switch in the coming future.
