Black Friday 2025 was another historic day in the video game world, as surprising sales have been revealed. PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console on Black Friday week in the United States, which accounted for 47% of hardware sales. Nintendo Switch 2 was the second-best-selling console of the week.
What’s interesting about the latest console sales report is that the top three do not include Xbox for the first time in a while.
It was revealed by Mat Piscatella of Circana that the NEX Playground came in third with 14% of the hardware sales, with Xbox Series X|S not even scratching the surface. This mini console, which you may have never heard of until now, is $249 on Amazon and is made for families to play together in the living room.

NEX Playground is best described as a “Kinect” style console because every game requires you to get up and start moving. Games like Fruit Ninja, Starri, Whac-a-Mole, Go Keeper, and Party Fowl are included with the console. There’s also a playground that has a variety of interactive motion games.
Part of the reason we are starting to see a decrease in Xbox console sales is the price increases Microsoft has put on the Xbox Series X and S.
Have you tried the NEX Playground yet?
