Rewinding back to its initial announcement, it was a big surprise to learn that Red Barrels’ Outlast is to branch into multiplayer. Featuring a co-op experience set within the Cold War-era was an interesting approach to the torturous gameplay that surrounds the IP. What was not expected was the amount of waiting for the game to ship.
Fast forward to this year, The Outlast Trials arrived; kinda. In that, the game did deliver itself over on Steam. But the caveat is that it arrived to Early Access. Even more is that there was no promised date for when the game would be making its way to consoles like Xbox or PlayStation. But, it was promised the title would make an appearance at The Game Awards on Thursday.
In a new trailer, Red Barrels shares The Outlast Trials is coming to Xbox & PlayStation later this March in 2024. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“The Outlast Trials, is a brand new take on the acclaimed Outlast survival horror series, set in the same terrifying universe as the previous titles, only this time you can choose to play on your own or with friends in a team of up to four people,” Red Barrels pens for the description of The Outlast Trials.
“Thanks to all the Outlast fans, content creators, and streamers who played, screamed, and survived the Trials (or died trying to survive, that’s ok too, you’re getting there!) our team at Red Barrels is grateful to all our fans and Reagents for going on this ride with us! Can’t wait to see many new faces enter The Outlast Trials on console!”
What are you most excited for getting a console release finally?
