Late last month in July, users online started discussing the possibilities for the next installment for the Call of Duty series to be unveiled fairly soon. In that, some fans seemed to be discovering the branded advertisements on Doritos bags well ahead of the announcement taking place expectedly soon. But nearly a month now since the initial reporting, there has still yet to be a proper announcement for the game.
For one, the title is most likely the suspected Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that has been reiterated again with the finding in July. Howbeit, Treyarch this past week or so has been poking at its impatient fanbase with several hints and nods to Cold War era paraphernalia and other events centered around the game’s setting.
That was until moments before today where fans uncovered the first trailer for the game. By solving the puzzling teaser on the PawnTakesPawn website, Call of Duty followers unmasked the first glimpse for the coming title. You can watch the teaser in the video below:
Taken from the footage, the game evidently emphasizes on the Soviet Union and the ties the communist nation held when in power during the mid-20th century. Following the conclusion of the trailer, viewers will be met with the official titling for the new game alongside a scheduled full reveal that will be taking place at the end of this month.
Disclosing both Treyarch and Raven Software’s involvement with the project, this solidifies the prolonged wait for the next Call of Duty installment. In the history of the franchise, Black Ops Cold War will stand as the longest timeframe for an entry to be unveiled for that same year. It is presumed the firm might be overwhelmed by the elements of COVID-19 and decided to take the route for a later reveal for 2020.
What are you most excited to see for Black Ops Cold War this month?
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be officially unveiled on August 26, 2020.
