News breaking from earlier this Monday revealed that Sony has opened a new division centered around creating other forms of media like film and television primarily using the bundle of IPs exclusive to the PlayStation brand with PlayStation Pictures.
Shortly after the announcement of the new branch in the Sony family during the company’s investor relations meeting, PlayStation Pictures has already confirmed that the first show is already in development. Detailed by Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra to be focused on the vehicular mayhem series Twisted Metal.
We have a TV show we just agreed to get underway that will be developed from the IP on PlayStation, it’s called Twisted Metal.
The CEO further shared that the franchise is “a game that was put out many years ago and we’re going to develop a TV series around that.” Especially as the series last received a true installment tracks back to 2012, it’s about time Sony takes Twister Metal off the shelf for a new entry, regardless of it not being a game.
Vinciquerra goes into further detail to reassure those interested in the upcoming Uncharted film adaptation that it has yet to fall off the rails despite the silence surrounding the project. Previously, it was revealed that 10 Cloverfield Lane Director Dan Trachtenberg will take the helm for the Nathan Drake movie back in January.
Despite the current noise surrounding the anticipating projects for both IPs, it’s likely we won’t hear much about the two for quite some time as both are still on their way of getting off the ground.
