In a recent press release from Ubisoft, the publisher has announced that the upcoming action RPG The Division 2 will be absent on Valveās Steam Store and will be offered on the Epic Games Store instead as well as on Uplay also.
āIntegrate key components of Ubisoftās Uplay and Epicās online services,” the latest press release reads regarding the decision to make the anticipated title available on Epic Gamesā young game marketplace. All version of The Division 2 (Standard, Gold, Ultimate) are available for pre-order now on the Epic Games Store. For Steam, the Tom Clancy title is still available on the store, for now at least.
The press release emphasizes that any preorder made on Epicās platform will guarantee access to the forthcoming private beta for the DC-set third-person shooter. Fans who gained access to the undated closed playtest either it being through physical retailers or other online storefronts still have their key into the party. But for future reference to those who are anticipating to get in, the Epic Games Store is where you can stock up.
Though the press release currently doesnāt specify if the forthcoming title will be available on Steam, the publisher did release a statement to PCWorld on the subject. The title will not be present on the platform based on the decision to support Epic Gamesā campaign to give back to the developers compared to their competitors.
Ubisoft fully supports Epic and their third-party distribution model, which is in the long-term, beneficial for publishers both large and indie and the video games industry.
This is one of the plenty instances that occurred for titles in similar situations when being welcomed to the Epic Games Store. Previously it was revealed that Super Meat Boy Forever will be exclusive to Epicās new storefront after being only catered to Valveās market place.
