The journey for transmedia has been a continued effort from Ubisoft. With attempts like Assassin’s Creed & The Prince of Persia before, the publisher is still adamant on more properties exploring film & television. It previously confirmed that another take at Assassin’s Creed is underway with another live-action adaptation at Netflix back in 2020.
Additionally, other projects are also in post-production from Ubisoft as well. With Regency, the Watch Dogs movie is finishing up. The production completed filming back in September 2024. Atop of that, Splinter Cell is also on the way as well. A new animated series – Splinter Cell: Deathwatch – is expected to come sometime this year.
Recently, Ubisoft announced that a new movie is on the way. Another live-action adaptation is coming; this time for Riders Republic. Bad Boys for Life, Bad Boys: Ride or Die directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are to direct the Riders Republic film. Noé Debré (Stillwater, The World Is Yours) is also attached to pen the script as well.
For producers it is confirmed that Sidonie Dumas (F is for Family), Rémi Cervoni (Simply Black) of Gaumont is to produce alongside Ubisoft Film & Television Gérard Guillemot and Margaret Boykin who are to oversee the production. “Set on the snowy slopes of the Alps, the film will deliver non-stop thrills, humor, and spectacular stunts,” the synopsis provided reads.
Noted, this is not the only French-owned IP being adapted into a live-action movie recently. Following the instant success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Story Kitchen has signed-on to produce a film adaptation of the RPG. You can read the full report by heading here.
