Discover everything you need to know about the weapon evolution list in Vampire Crawlers, including the best weapons to use.

Vampire Crawlers weapon evolutions require specific weapon and passive item combinations paired with a high-level weapon. The game maintains the first game’s massive selection of weapons and evolutions. Evolved weapons are a key to completing runs, and this is a system where you combine a weapon card with the specific item card to create a much stronger evolved weapon. Luck is somehow involved here, so you may not get the cards you need for evolutions. We bring the Weapon Evolutions List of Vampire Crawlers to help you find the recipe for a specific combination.

How Weapon Evolution Works

Weapon evolution is a fusion system in Vampire Crawlers in which a base weapon card and a specific item card combine to form a new evolved weapon. Gems are used in the previous title (Vampire Survivors), but here they’re replaced with the cards. The evolved weapons deal massive damage and gain new abilities or unique effects.

How Weapon Evolution Works

These types of weapons can completely carry your run if done correctly. Some items cannot evolve weapons and are marked “Destroyed after use” won’t work as ingredients. You might not get the cards you need every run, as evolution is partly based on drops and choices.

How to Evolve Weapons in Vampire Crawlers

Make sure to have the correct card combo in your deck to evolve something in Vampire Crawlers. Get the basic weapons cards like Knife, Axe, Magic Ward, etc, and then have the matching item card. Every weapon has a specific required item, like Whip + Hollow Heart or Magic Wand + Tome. Evolution can’t be triggered without the correct item. Make sure to have a free gem socket for your weapon.

Filling it with the upgrades can also block the evolution. Most players make this mistake commonly, so try keeping it empty. Once you get your hands on the base weapon, the correct item, and an empty socket, activate evolution using a chest and an evolution statue.

How To Evolve Weapons

You get a chance for evolution from the chest and multiple evolution choices. Find the Evolution Statue or Gem Station from inside the dungeons, which offers evolution if the requirements are met. Accepting the evolution lets you transform the weapon by consuming the item card.

For example, get a Knife and a Bracer to evolve the Knife into Thousand Edge. Keep one gem slot empty and open a chest or find a statue to start the evolution. Each weapon has a fixed recipe, so avoid random mixing. Using the wrong item or filling gem sockets disables the evolution.

Evolve the Weapons

Opening chests too early can also waste the chance, so I recommend waiting until you have a full combo. The required cards can’t be obtained during every run, as evolution depends on drops.  Use the Grim Grimoire menu to check possible evolutions mid-run. Some higher-tier versions of the cards don’t make the evolved weapon powerful, while others, like Golden Armor and Rainbow Armor, work for evolutions.

These evolutions provide significant upgrades to damage, area of effect, and secondary effects. I recommend tracking the recipes that you unlock after finding the Grim Grimoire Relic. You can find this relic in the Inlaid Library, and obtaining it lets you access its menu while playing the game.

How to Find Grim Grimoire

The Grim Grimoire is a relic in Vampire Crawlers that acts like an in-game encyclopedia for weapon evolutions. It shows weapon evolution recipes, required combinations, and your progress. You can find it as a relic on a map marked by a green arrow. Once acquired, pause the game and Select “Open Grimoire”. Make sure to use it to decide which item to pick on level up and which evolution to aim for.

Find Grim Grimoire

It only shows evolutions you’ve already unlocked, while others may appear as hidden or incomplete. Discovering more combinations allows you to update it automatically. Picking up the weapon or item lets it become highlighted in the Grimoire. The full combo lights up by completing the specific evolution. You can open it during a run and check what evolutions are still possible.

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
