The summer is nearing even more with May already in its second week. And with the better weather comes a wealth of video game events & showcases later this month into June as well. Last month, Microsoft & IGN held its periodical ID@Xbox Showcase featuring a strong lineup of up & coming indie games set to launch across Xbox as well as PC.
Additionally, Microsoft has already announced its 2026 Xbox Games Showcase. The presentation set for June 7th is anticipated to showcase highly-anticipated titles like Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved. It is already confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will be receiving a separate direct showing after the airing of the showcase. And, Summer Game Fest is set to return on June 5th after another record-breaking showing in 2025 last year.
In conjunction with both Xbox & Summer Game Fest, Microsoft announced a separated event will be taking place throughout the week of both events. From June 6th to June 8th, Summer Game Fest Play Days 2026 will be held featuring roughly a dozen different titles. You can read the full list below:

“Spring is in the air, which means Summer Game Fest is right around the corner. This year, Xbox has assembled a phenomenal crew of developers from all over the world – from Sacramento to Kraków to Hangzhou – eager to share their work at Summer Game Fest Play Days,” the post reads. “We can’t wait for fans to hear about the collection of demos, along with everything else that Xbox has in store this summer.”
Other Xbox-related announcements that could potentially make an appearance around this time is backwards compatibility.
