Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that XDefiant has passed 11 million players since it was released on May 21, 2024. This information comes from an interview with the publisher posted with Yves where he talks about the success of the live service game.
“There’s a lot of work to do, but it was able to attract 11 million players in a short time. And that number will increase with all the work done by the team to ensure Season One brings a lot more to the existing experience. It’s about making the right choices and sticking to them.”
It had already been reported by Insider Gaming that XDefiant reached 10 million players within its first week. That would mean the game reached an additional 1 million players in the last few weeks.

Yves said that he hopes to see XDefiant as a serious esport and that there’s no limit to the game’s future.
“Well, outside of it being continually updated, with different experiences and optimized gameplay, I’d love to see it as a serious esport. But really, for a game like this, there’s no limit to its future”
Our review of XDefiant scored the game a 7 out of 10 as it’s an average first-person shooter and currently lacks content and needs more originality.
XDefiant is available to play on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
