Jagex’s long-living series of RuneScape could be curated as a monumental stepping stone for online interactivity since the days of dial-up internet and even now proves to still have a thriving community of active players despite the series standing nearly two decades old. While the first iteration of Classic RuneScape met its end in summer of 2018, the following Old School RuneScape alongside RuneScape 3 are still active installments.

According to a report from gamesindustry.biz, 2019 was actually one of the most thriving segments for RuneScape. Divided between both ongoing iterations of the series, last year accumulated roughly 1.1 million active users who subscribed to the game’s service.

Putting Jagex on track for its most successful year to date, 2019 was a record-breaking year for Jagex and our RuneScape communities. We hit exciting milestones, welcomed more members and players to the games than at any point in their 19-year history, achieved significant success on mobile and saw notable industry talent joining our established teams to steer the future for our living games.

Aside from both titles that are thriving on PC currently, the mobile release of OldSchool RuneScape has also introduced some impressive numbers reaching the new decade. Since the release of the mobile port back in fall 2018, over 8 million users have downloaded OldSchool RuneScape divided between both Apple and Android versions.

In other related news to developer Jagex, the company has announced to be in partnership with up and coming developer Improbable. The studio is reported to be helmed by former Epic Games Producer John Wasilczyk for the London division. You can read the complete report by heading here.
