This past December during the annual Game Awards ceremony, developer PlatinumGames in collaboration with publisher Square Enix showcased its coming project, Babylon’s Fall. Although the game showed off what looked to be a new project, the title itself has been in public knowledge since its initial reveal took place during E3 of 2018. However, even with the showcase taking place more than a year after its debut, there is still not much context to the game.

Even now as we are sitting right in the middle of July 2020, there is still little to arrange about Babylon’s Fall. While it is very apparent that there is specimens of both PlatinumGames & Square Enix’s traits in the coming title, there is still plenty of questions left unanswered. Howbeit, that looks to be ending sometime very “soon”.

In a new update post on Twitter, the game’s official account has shared an update on the game’s development which should be reassuring sign for waiting fans. Even more, the team discloses that new information on the project is expected to be revealed in the coming future that should also be satisfying to learn.

“We can share that development on Babylon’s Fall is continuing to progress well, with the team safely from home,” the letterhead tells. “Square Enix and PlatinumGames are committed to delivering an exhilarating experience and we look forward to showcasing much more on Babylon’s Fall as soon as we can.”

It is expected that the prolonged wait for Babylon’s Fall plays victim to the recent work-from-home ethics instilled by the novel coronavirus – as stated – among other internal affairs present with developer PlatinumGames. Previously, it was reported that the Japanese studio has begun pursuing a self-publishing effort with the announcement of Platinum4.

Among some of the projects underway with its pursuit for development independence, PlatinumGames announced the already-released The Wonderful 101: Remastered, Project G.G. A Go-Go, and the opening of a new studio in Japan’s capital, Tokyo. With the game’s followers still waiting on news for the project, there could be room to presume a possible next-generation release for Babylon’s Fall is in order seeing how close the release of the PlayStation 5 is for this holiday season.
