Dotting back a few weeks, which might feel longer due to still living in the ongoing pandemic, it was breaking news to discover that parent company AT&T might be selling its gaming division of WarnerMedia, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. In the initial report, it was shared that the entertainment conglomerate would be bidding this portion of its talent for roughly $4.1 billion.

The network of teams consists of prolific studios such as Rocksteady Studios, NetherRealm Studios, Traveller’s Tales, Monolith Productions, and the plethora of self-named developers branded with the Warner Bros. name. In tow of the announcement, pillars of the gaming industry such as Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, and of course Microsoft were all interested in possibly acquiring the line of studios up for sale.

Howbeit, AT&T in a new statement provided by TheSixthAxis shares that the firm is no longer interested in selling off its talent and instead has restructured its position under WarnerMedia and it now sits a “part of the Studios and Network group.”

The Warner Bros. Motion Pictures Group continues to be led by Chairman Toby Emmerich. Warner Bros. Television Studios group continues to be led by Chairman Peter Roth. Warner Bros. Interactive remains part of the Studios and Networks group, along with our Global Brands and Franchises team including DC led by Pam Lifford, and our Kids, Young Adults and Classics business led by Tom Ascheim, all focused on engaging fans with our brands and franchises through games and other interactive experiences.

The discovery of the new mindset from AT&T also follows the recent email sent out by last week where WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar emailed employees an update on the current stance for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We are simplifying how we organize our studios,” the CEO writes in the email. The document, however, emphasizes the future of the entertainment direction for WarnerMedia more than its gaming division.

The news also follows the recent announcement for Rocksteady Studios’ long-awaited project, Suicide Squad. The firm will give the game a proper reveal at the coming DC Fandome later this month. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
