TMZ had reported last night that the God of War TV Series is on hold and may not resume filming until 2027. This was due to an injury that Ryan Hurst suffered on set by tearing a bicep.
A new report from Deadline has indicated the God of War TV Series is going to recast the lead Kratos after Ryan Hurst suffered the injury. The outlet shares that a decision was carefully made by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
Ryan Hurst’s injury happened in late June and production on the show has been on hold since then. The recovery time for him is expected to be 4 to 6 months and the period required would be too long for the production schedule. This is the reason they are recasting the role for Kratos.
Deadline reports that four full episodes have been completed with Ryan Hurst as Kratos as filming began in the Winter time in Vancouver. The show is expected to have two seasons that are planned to film back-to-back and remains the plan.
It’s heartbreaking news for Hurst as he put on 40 lbs of muscle and worked tirelessly for months on the Vancouver set shooting the physically demanding role.
It remains to be seen when filming will begin for God of War.
